Development of a Standardized Buttress for Approach Guardrail Transitions
Report Number(s): TRP-03-369-20
Description: The barrier system installation was approximately 82 ft long and consisted of four main components: a concrete transition buttress, a thrie-beam AGT, standard MGS, and a guardrail anchorage system. The downstream end had concrete buttress. The buttress was 7 ft long and 36 in. tall. To prevent vehicle snag above the thrie beam rail, the upstream end of the buttress was 32 in. tall and incorporated a 4-in. tall by 24-in. long slope to bring the barrier height up to 36 in.
